Holland Receives First Team Academic All-District Honors

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Otterbein University midfielder Conor Holland (Columbus/Worthington Christian) has been voted to the Capital One Academic All-District first team in men's soccer, announced Thursday afternoon by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

As a result, he will now advance to the Academic All-America ballot.

A senior captain, Holland leads Otterbein and ranks second in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) with nine assists this season, including a pair of matches with three helpers each. He has started 65-straight matches for the team dating back to his freshman season.

A returning All-OAC selection, Holland has been a near-perfect straight-A student majoring in Biology since enrolling as a freshman in 2011. He has made sure to stay involved off the field, volunteering time with Grace Hospice, Westerville Area Resource Ministry, New Life Community Church and tutoring underprivileged children another local church.

Academic All-District VII team members are selected through voting by the College Sports Information Directors of America, a 2,000-member organization consisting of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. District VII encompasses the states of Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

The Division III Academic All-America team is scheduled to be announced on Friday, Nov. 21.
