Megan McCabe, women’s soccer, earned Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) “Player of the Week” honors in their respective sports, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
An all-conference right-side hitter, Bennett (Wadsworth/Wadsworth) helped the nationally-ranked volleyball team play to a 4-1 record on the week, including three impressive victories over ranked opponents at the Washington University (St. Louis) weekend event.
Bennett hit .333 on the week, which also included a five-set come-from-behind victory over Mount St. Joseph. Her best outing came against 12th-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater, blasting 11 kills, and just two errors, on 25 attempts, while also adding two solo blocks, five block assists, and three digs. The performance was good enough to land a spot on the all-tournament team.
She finished the week with 44 kills on 96 total attempts, 8.5 blocks and 12 digs. The Cardinals now sit 6-3 on the season, hosting a tri-match with Columbus State Community College and Northwestern (Ohio) Tuesday in the Rike Center.
McCabe, a forward from Lewis Center (St. Francis DeSales), helped the women’s soccer team move to 4-1 on the season with three-straight victories on the week.
McCabe assisted on the game-winning goal against Hiram on Wednesday before turning around to post three goals and two assists at the Penn St.-Altoona Tournament.
She scored the game’s first two goals against Moravian on Saturday, and later assisted on the third en route to a 3-0 victory. McCabe then netted the Cardinals’ fourth goal and assisted on the fifth in a 6-0 rout of Altoona Sunday afternoon. She currently sits as the OAC’s leading-scorer with 11 points.
Women’s soccer plays a pair of road matches this week, traveling to Denison University Wednesday evening before a contest at Earlham College (Pa.) Saturday afternoon.
