OAC Release

WESTERVILLE, OHIO—Senior wide receiver Trey Fairchild topped the list of six Otterbein University football players named to All-Ohio Athletic (OAC) teams, the league office released Monday.

Fairchild, from Dublin (Dublin Coffman High School), received the Ed Sherman Award and was named first team All-OAC. The Ed Sherman Award is presented to the OAC’s most outstanding receiver as voted upon by the league’s coaches. The award is named after Ed Sherman, who guided Muskingum College to a 141-43-8 record from 1945-66 to become the school’s all-time wins leader in football.

Joining Fairchild on the first team was punter Aaron Kingcade, a junior from Worthington (Kilbourne). Second team members include offensive tackle Kevin Murphy, a senior from Dayton (Stebbins), and middle linebacker Shane Centers, a senior from Zanesville. Running back Cody Green, a junior from Columbus (Northland), and cornerback Anthony Korpieski, a senior from Westerville (Olentangy), earned honorable mention honors.

Fairchild, who has one year of eligibility remaining, leads the OAC in receiving yards, averaging 113.3 a game, and all-purpose yards, 213.8 an outing. The wide receiver caught 66 balls for 1,133 yards and eight touchdowns this season. The outstanding receiver also served as Otterbein’s return specialist, averaging 24.2 yards on kickoff and 10.3 yards on punt returns.

Nationally in NCAA Division III, Fairchild ranks third in all-purpose yards, 10th in receiving yards, 32nd in receptions, 41st in kickoff returns, and 45th in punt returns.

Murphy anchored the offensive line that helped generate an average of 367.8 yards of offense a game. The Cardinals finished second in passing offense, and fifth in total offense in the OAC.

Kingcade, who also serves as backup quarterback, averaged 40 yards per punt to lead the OAC this season. He punted 41 times for 1,634 yards, placing nine inside the 20-yard line. Kingcade ranks 16th in NCAA Division III.

Centers finished the season with 101 tackles to rank second in the OAC. The senior compiled 55 unassisted tackles and nine tackles for a loss of 31 yards. He tallied double-digit tackles in five games, including 17 at John Carroll and 16 at Mount Union. He ranks 17th in the nation.

Green averaged 77.9 yards rushing per game to rank fifth in the OAC this season. He carried the ball 141 times for 701 yards and five touchdowns. Green also made 11 receptions for 59 yards. The running back went over the 100-yard mark in three games, including 162 yards against Capital and 153 against Marietta.

Korpieski, who also has one more year of eligibility remaining, made 33 solo tackles to finish the season with 38 total tackles. He led the defensive unit with 12 pass breakups. Korpieski earned second team All-OAC honors in 2010.
